My cable connection did not connect this AM. My e-mail would not connect so I tried Firefox (3.6.17). All my tabs came up with the msg "can't find server" & I had to click out of the dialog boxes before I could close Firefox. I reset all the modem/switch and started Firefox again. All the tabs came up with "untitled" and no URL listed. I know there's a way to get them back (like when FF comes up with the oops, that's embarrassing msg) but I can't remember how to do it.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:

  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

No help. I think this is akin to the problem (which I've solved in the past) related to the msg "Oops, this is embarrassing..." that you get when it forgets the urls you had opened. This involved renaming one of the files but I can't remember which one... Thanks.
