After the last Firefox update I have found that I have to type in my required search in full in the Google Tool bar even if I click on a previously searched item appearing in my drop down list. This problem only started after the last update as this feature worked properly before.

As a workaround, try using your keyboard to navigate the drop-down list to select your web history or search suggestions.
