Firefox 5.0 disabled an add-on, which is associated with my anti-virus software. Is that add-on disabled if I use some other browser too or just in Firefox?

I just installed Firefox 5.0. I also just renewed by Webroot Internet Security Essentials subscription, so I have the latest updates on that as well, and apparently something in the latest Webroot isn't compatible with the latest Firefox. When I open Firefox, I get a message that a Webroot 1.7 "add-on" and a couple related Webroot files (I didn't write them down and the error message is gone) were disabled. This worries me, because I don't know what part of my anti-virus protection has been disabled by Firefox. My Webroot reports it is up-to-date and functioning.

What it is saying is that Webroot has a special add-on for firefox that doesn't match the version of firefox you have. Webroot will still run, but it won't use that special attachment. You may or may not have a similar attachment that it comes with for other browsers; I'm not sure. All-in-all, that add-on is not the main part of your anti-virus, it's just a little bonus piece they give you.

Firefox has not turned off your anti-virus, and using a different browser will be no more or less dangerous than it was before this.

Think of it like a vacuum cleaner. It's still going to vacuum and clean up, but the fancy little brush for cleaning the baseboards or something doesn't fit right now.

They most likely only will need to change the little part of it that says what versions of firefox it will work with, so chances are if you keep an eye out, there will likely be an update soon with a version of the add-on that is compatible.
