Today I downloaded something and it changed the setting for my address bar on FireFox. It's called eToolKit Web Search. I have tried to uninstall it this program but my address bar is still using eToolKit. I uninstalled FF and reinstalled - still didn't remove eToolKit. Did virus scans, malware, adware scans, etc. Still no luck. Did Add/Remove program. No luck. Tried System Restore but I keep getting a message that I can't restore. My address bar used to default to Google for any keywords I would put into it. PLEASE HELP!

thanks mha, I could remove this useless thing. I had to work on it, so I will explain clearly. I had this prob. too but I resolved by running in the safe mode, in the end. Open Firefox, click help, and go to Restart with Add-ons Disabled. I think, I checked the 4th one, reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults but not very sure which one, then continued in safe mode. now, I have a life without etoolkit and I am a very happy person. more info: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode

i've figured it out! actually, i made an account just to reply to this. it's simple! Steps: -Type About:Config into address bar, and press enter -in the filter column, type in "etool" -you should see something along the lines of a keyword. -right click it, and press edit -make the keyword field blank -press enter -exit the page

DONE!
