I use a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (AT&T) and most of the time when I exit the application, the Android OS crashes. It starts up again in about 30-60 seconds but it is annoying. I exit the app via the exit button, the home button, or the back button. I have android 2.2.

Thanks

Sorry - this happens because Firefox uses a lot of memory, so Android closes other applications in the background (including the home screen) and has to re-start them when you go back. We're working on reducing Firefox's memory use so this will not happen as often. The other potential solution is to disable other services that are running in the background and using memory on your phone, like music players.
