Firefox 12 Hardware Acceleration Broke after Latest AMD graphics driver update
I just updated my AMD HD 3870 graphics card to the latest AMD drivers, every other browser works fine then firefox which has worked for the past 2 years started becoming VERY sluggest, as in it is rendering the screen line by line, and i can see it moving line by line whenever the screen changes. I disabled hardware acceleration and everything became normal again. So obviously i dunno why even though i'm running latest firefox and latest graphics drivers that this would happen when my old drivers worked perfectly fine... on XP 32 bit SP3

Are you sure it's not caused by an interfering extension? See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems (turn on HW acceleration to investigate in normal mode).
If you type "About:support" into the address bar (without quotes) and press enter, can you copy and paste the graphics information section into this thread?
if you click 'more system details' on the right, i already copied everything there like it asks you to when you fill in the question form...
and NO i'm sure it is not extension because i didn't change any extension since my graphics updates and everything stayed the same. also it worked right away as soon as i unchecked use hardware acceleration.
Ah, sorry, missed that. Ok, so it's something broken by AMD in their driver update then it looks like. Would you mind filing a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/, the Firefox developers will double-check, and likely will have you try a few thins, then hopefully can coordinate a fix with AMD.
i will do that thanks
If one of your extensions uses not properly HW acceleration (Yahoo toolbar is known for that), disabling HW acceleration will fix your issue although Firefox has nothing to do with that. So please do what I asked before.
that was the fisrt thing i did before i posted. even disabling every single addon/extension the problem was still there. only worked when i uncheck use hardware accelearation
