I re-installed FF, need to re-sync but it does not work
when I type in my username & password i get :
"My recovery key"
"recovery key box with recovery key"
Note: changing the key will erase all data .........
I copy the key and go to sync but it says the key is wrong

no idea about that! here's my hunch: you may have spelled the key wrong. or keyboard is messed up. if so, you might want to check keyboard and drivers.
or you might need a new account.
nope, I copied and pated it, and I type it in but keys were the same
but thanks
sorry but what is user and password for i am unfamiliar with FF.
Try to remove the hyphens (-) in the sync key to see if that helps.
oh duh its FireFox. well, try if nothing works to contact a FireFox oprative. maybe one of them can help you.
I did remove the hyphens, no luck
thanks
instead of hyphens try _ key.
Are you sure that you have the correct sync key for that Sync account and that you enter it in the window that opens when you click the "I don't have the device with me" link?
yep,
it says i can generate a new key, but It is not clear if that will wipe my data?? based on this mesg on the screen "Note: changing the key will erase all data ......... "
i kneed to know title, symbol, message and possible answers of the pop-up to determine the threat.
An gyara
the title is in my 1st mesg: "my recovery key" with the rest of the info
Thanks
If you generate a new sync key then your data on the sync server will be removed.
Did you clear all profile data when you uninstalled Firefox (if you did)?
Did you backup any files from your previously used profile?
It is always better not to rely on sync as as backup storage device, but to backup yourself locally if you decide to reinstall Firefox or your OS.
I used to use the old sync system(not FF) and it was very good! but then they said they were going away! So I went with the FF sync, just assume it was just as easy! NOPE!!
I wipe the FF info off my hard drive because it should be in FF SYNC! I realize now that I goofed! So I am hoping to help from FF!
Thanks
well, glad we figured it out!
didnt know u needed different program...
oops, I guess I was not clear The problem is still there. I used to use another program, but i no longer use it!
so SYNC is still a problem
