can't install firefox 16
I'm on a macbook os 10.5.8 and just tried to install firefox 16 however I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.
My old version of firefox has been removed and I do not have a functional firefox browser. This is a personal computer and my mac software updates says everything is up to date.
So please provide me a direct link to reinstall firefox 15 (which was working fine before all this buzz and notice about updating it.
thank you. rita

Will Firefox not install if you use the admin password? Can you install Firefox in some other directory than the system Applications?
I installed Firefox in a subdirectory I created in my standard account, and it runs very well from there. You can download the installer for the current Firefox from here:
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
- Firefox 16.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
you can also try to repair the disk permissions:
