Do we need to disable Javascript in the Firefox / Options / Content check box? Or, just in Java control panel?

There needs to be clarification on the Java issues. It's clear that we can disable Java in the java control panel itself and/or via the plug-in link.

However, what about the firefox options menu? Where you click Tools_Options_Content and then you can check or un-check "Enable JavaScript" -- is that safe to be checked/enabled or is that also part of the security concern w/ Java right now?

hello aladria, javascript is a different technology than java. firefox 18 won't automatically run the vulnerable version of the java plugin - on websites where it is used, you'd have to manually allow it. in case you want to totally disable the java plugin because of the latest reports of the 0-day-vulnerability you can do this in firefox > addons > plugins.

In Firefox 23 we're not allowed to use the "Disable JavaScript" checkbox, because they took it away from us. What a horrible idea.

You can disable the Java plugin in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins if you do not want to use it or are concerned about security issues.

A lot of websites won't properly with JavaScript disabled.
