When i try to get on to youtube, I get the incomplete load version of youtube where everything is just text on the left side of the screen. On Google the regular logo doesn't load and I get just the words Google in text on the center of the screen. I have tried clearing cookies and cache and it works for a few hours, but then it goes back to the weird incomplete version after a while. Also I didn't restart my computer or anything during this , it was left on the whole time.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

The issue is still present when I use safe mode, I also tried reinstalling firefox and that doesn't work either. I was literally just on my channel doing something and then when I clicked a video it switched over to the loading text on the left side of the screen.

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I cleared the cache the way cor-el told me to and it works for now. However i did state in the original message that I had tried doing that and it only works temporarily.

You're welcome

Nevermind, it did it again the next day. I even tried restoring firefox to factory default and it's still like this.

Hello Omegadark,

Do you have a link to a video that exhibits this behavior? I've seen this previously when someone has provided me a link to the mobile version of youtube rather than the desktop site.

Cheers, Patrick

Unfortunately I could not find a video of this on youtube. I did manage to get a screenshot of the problem on google, But the youtube thing just randomly started working again so I wasn't able to get a screenshot of that. I will take a screenshot of it when it starts happening again.

So no one knows?

If the browsing cache gets so easily and often corrupted then this usually means that other cleanup or anti-virus software is involved.

Can you determine a pattern like does it only happen on specific days or after rebooting the computer?

It happens randomly and can happen from a few minutes to hours. As far as I can see there are no patterns. But I have added firefox to the allowed programs list on my security system and I have set the maximum allowed cache limit to 0 and it seems to work for now.
