Why would setting browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to false delete all of your history? I thought it would just disable your resuming from a crash.

What? Mozillazine says this

True Restore the previous session when the browser starts after a crash. (Default)

False Do not restore the previous session.

It didnt say it would delete history.

Firefox won't restore tabs from the previous session if you disable Session Restore.
Firefox needs to create a sessionstore.js file to be able to do this.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History
