I have my settings to open last browsing session and also not open tabs until selected. Before I updated Firefox last, I was able to click on the tab and it would load the last version of that webpage that I had browsed before I'd shut it down last. Then if I wanted the updated version of the page, I simply had to refresh. I liked this option very much as one of the websites I visit (tumblr.com/dashboard) updates every few minutes and it was nice to resume my last browsed version of the page first before clicking refresh to see the newest version of the page. Is there any way to get this back or has the update eliminated this option completely from my use?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Cache (Firefox will disable the disk cache in this case, see about:cache)

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

I've explored what you've suggested but I am not actually using the option of "clearing browsing history". Perhaps I need more information/clarification about the 'cache' that you have mentioned. When you say "see about:cache" do you mean within this support site itself or somewhere else? Thank you for your time on this matter.

about: is a protocol used to access special built-in pages. You can open about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.

So to open the about:cache you type about:cache in the location bar and press the enter key.
