Suddenly, my site safety icon is grey w/ a white question mark; instead of its usual green (shield) w/ a white check mark---- Have you any ideas ??? for help??

A number of added toolbars have been known to cause issues with Firefox. Sorry to say that AVG is on the list.
Open the add-ons manager, and disable AVG as a test.
