Running Thunderbird 31.2.0 on Mac OS X 10.8.5.

I just found out that my Thunderbird silently sends return receipts, disregarding both my global setting (Preferences->Advanced->Return Receipts) and my per-account settings (Tools->Account Settings->Return Receipts), where in both cases I have chosen "Never send a return receipt".

I have also tried the setting "Ask me", in which case I was asked, but after responding "Ignore request", Thunderbird sent a receipt anyway.

Is this a bug? How can I prevent return receipts from being sent?

does your server respect your choices is the question. Exchange, Lotus notes and WebSphere can all override what you say and use the administrators settings. I assume other server software has similar abilities.
