2) Which (if either) OPEN SOURCE O/S works best with Firefox? Unsure what you NTK, so... laptop has:

System Information: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pak 3

Microsoft Programs ["?" - denotes unknown if MS or not]: (?) Compatibility Pak for the 2007 Office System (147 MB) Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Client Profile (182 MB) Microsoft Compression Client Pak 1.0 for Windows XP (no MB) Microsoft Office File Validation Add-in (7.92 MB) Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 (627 MB) Microsoft Silverlight (38.81 MB) Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pak 1.0 (no MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributables (5.28 MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables KB2467174-x86 9.0.30729.5570 (10.20 MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables x86 9.0.30729.17 (9.64 MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables x86 9.0.30729.4148 (10.19 MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables x86 9.0.30729.6161 (10.20 MB) Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributables – 10.0.40219 (14.97 MB) (?) Visual Studio 2012 x86 Redistributables (10.27 MB) Windows Internet Explorer 8 (4.29 MB) Windows Media Format 11 Runtime (7.95 MB) Windows Media Player 11 (7.95 MB) Windows Rights Management Client Backwards Compatibility S92 (0.30 MB) Windows Rights Management Client with Service Pak 2 (3.42 MB)

Firefox Browser Modzilla Firefox 32.0.3 (x86 en-US) (75.82 MB) Modzilla Maintenance Service (0.22 MB)

I plan to remove non-essential MS programs to increase HD space after installing Zorin OS (or, other open source OS). NOTE: I do NOT have MS XP O/S or program disks. When I delete, it's gone.

Thanks much for your help, Island Fox

I haven't read much about Zorin, but at its heart is the Linux operating system, so you can install Firefox for Linux on Zorin. It might even be included already (although it probably would need an update in that case).

You can copy your data over from Firefox for Windows to Firefox for Linux. While Firefox itself won't need any part of Windows, some of your add-ons could contain components that only run on Windows.

Some articles for reference:

Also, I assume Zorin has support forums for other Windows users with similar questions, so it would be a good idea to ask over there, too.
