removal of "MALWARE PROTECTION 360"
I believe that the program? continues to change my home page on both Firefox and Internet explorer. I did a uninstall on MALWARE PROTECTION 360 and the next time I started my Window 7 computer It reappeared asking to run a scan. It also appears in the Window Task Manager. How do I remove it?

Bookmark and use this; Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Hello,
Unfortunately there are so many types of malware that have "Malware Protection" as part of the name that it is hard to find a guide specific to your problem. Some of these malicious applications are very hard to remove, and someone who is more knowledgeable in malware removal can give you instructions catered to the problems that you are facing. To get this resolved quickly, I highly recommend you post to forums specializing in malware removal, such as:
- Bleeping Computer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums
- Spyware Warrior Forums - http://www.spywarewarrior.com/index.php
- SWI Forums - http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/
Not quite a firefox issue, but I am sure 360 doesn't have a support forum as supportive as this :) So here is my suggestion.
Check the following places, and remove the entries related to the software you are talking about. When in doubt, make backups first.
- The "startup" tab in msconfig;
It is just a partial list of where sneaky software can hide their startup triggers, but has been pretty sufficient for my needs. Once you have removed the triggers, the software shouldn't both you at startup any more.
For a more thorough cleanup, take note of where those triggers point at before removing them, and delete those target executables afterwards.
Just a disclaimer: I use a different system and haven't verified the steps in those instructions linked above.
If an answer solves your problem, please click the "Solved the problem" button to the right of that answer to mark your problem as solved. Thanks.
