add on compatibility freezes
Firefox was running slower than I had liked so I restarted my computer. When I restarted, nothing worked, I wasnt able to open anything. After putting my computer in recovery I was able to open things again until I tried firefox, I got an error and went to update firefox. It worked until "checking add ons compatibility" screen popped up, and then firefox would "not responding" and the rest of my computer became slow as well. I have uninstalled and re-installed firefox, and it still always freezes on that screen. It still comes up and freezes in safe mode. I decided to use a different browser but it wont recognize firefox to import all my bookmarks from. So, could you please tell me either how to start firefox without checking add ons, delete add ons from a file (since I cant open firefox I cant do it from there), or how to get my bookmarks onto chrome (ive tried going to the file but it wont open when Im going through import). Thank you

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Thank you, but unfortunately after downloading and running several of those, they all came back with no problems detected.
I decided to try and find the program file for firefox and delete anything related to addons, applications, and extensions before uninstalling and re-installing firefox, again. And just like before it is still coming up "not responding" as soon as the "check add on compatibility" update pops up. I was hoping by deleting my old add ons, this wouldnt pop up.
How can I move my bookmarks to chrome?
Any chance you are running Avast 2015?
If so, try updating it manually. http://www.ghacks.net/2014/10/31/avasts-https-scanning-interferes-with-firefox-and-other-programs/
No, I'm not.
