HOW DO I RESTORE THE SETTINGS TO NEW EMAILS I COMPOSE, SO THEY ONCE AGAIN INCLUDE A SEND MAIL TAB & A CONTACTS TAB, WHICH LISTS ALL MY SAVED EMAIL ADDRESSES?
When I open a blank new email, there is NO Send mail or Send option visible; nor is there a Contacts tab, from which I can access ALL the addresses I routinely email to. How do I restore those tabs in ALL New blank emails I open?
I did just learn how to send something by pressing Control AND Enter at the same time; but that does NOT help me at all; I seek to Restore the old settings. I know that the problem started in my last email, after I had right-clicked and unchecked different items, so as to make the writing tablet to the email larger. Now, unfortunately, ALL emails are without the most necessary SEND MAIL and CONTACTS tabs. I Appreciate your wisdom in this matter ...

Open a write window. Press the alt key to make the menu bar appear. From the menu bar select View-Toolbars and turn the toolbars back on. The Send button is on the Composition toolbar.
Press F9 to turn the Contact Sidebar back on. You can also turn the contact sidebar on and off under View-Layout.

I applied your concise and precise instructions and it worked ... sending to myself, & to others. Even after restarting the computer, the changes remained- back to where I wanted things. I certainly thank you.
There is, however, one new, littler variable (problem) that I've never seen before, which I don't know if it was somehow a result of pressing F9. From the desktop, after I open multiple programs or even just folders, they often overlap the bottom task bar; and most significantly, they DON'T allow me to change which program or folder is first/most visible/the one I'm working on. Now, I have to minimize each window completely, in order to access the other task fields.
It had always been set up so that if a mere portion of any opened program in the background was clicked on by my cursor, it would move up to the foreground. Then I could work in that field, and when I chose to return to the original task, I could just cursor to and press any visible portion of that program, to resume doing so. Now, unfortunately, I'm facing new elements that are less problematic, but still a pain-in-the-arse.
If you would have any understanding about HOW this even happened (whether it was F9, etc.) and have any other remedies in your bag of computer tricks, I would very much appreciate hearing about them.
Sometimes display issues are caused by a misbehaving add on. You could try restarting Thunderbird with add ons disabled and see what happens then.
You can do this from the Help menu.
