I have Firefox for my laptop and wanted to use it on my android cell phone. When I saw under permissions that the app can access pictures and videos and can take pictures and videos that seemed very weird. Does anyone know of a work around to keep app from taking pictures and videos without my permission? I don't want to uninstall but can allow this intrusion of privacy.

We have a help article about why that permission is there: How does Firefox for Android use the permissions it requests?

More specifically, some websites may give you the option to attach or embed a picture directly from the camera instead of by going through a folder of previously taken photos. In order to support that feature, Firefox needs permission to access the camera. However, according to that article, Firefox will ask your permission before letting the site use the camera. I don't think I've ever seen this in action.

Thanks! Hope they ask permission. Wonder why app doesn't say "app can access but will ask permission first".....just sayin. Usually legal wording is there for a reason, ya know?
