Hmm, I can't tell whether that is part of Firefox or part of an add-on.

Does this happen fairly quickly or after a long stretch of use?

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

What is your computer system and Firefox?

That type of message means that script has a problem with line number 18790.

What were you and Firefox doing at the time?

The way I view this problem it goes back for years. I see search results from before 2011 with the same issue. Personally I find the recommendation that "safe mode" be used to not be very helpful. My environment is such that the browser runs all day long with imacros macros. Usually I come home and everything is fine. But on some days, like today, FIREFOX produces this unresponsive script warning message.

I simply want a FIREFOX feature that ignores/kills unresponsive scripts. It's not like anyone is going to be around to care - even if I were here I do not care. I just want the problem to go away.

If I run in safe mode then I can not run with "addons" so that would be pretty useless. The only reason I continue to use Firefox is because iMacros is supported.

Here's an image from one of the pages.

I have zero interest in seeing this information. If a websites script stops working - great! Just do not interrupt my day by telling me about it and asking me questions.

How can I stop being asked these questions? What kind of configuration parameters exist in Firefox that will stop these painful interruptions?

What did you do? You're still posting in a "solved thread" and we don't have your system details, as Fred requested. And your screenshot image can't be displayed.

Overall, there are a couple of prefs that can be 'set' to extend the script "run" time before that type of message appears, depending upon what type of script is taking too long or is hung-up.

dom.max_script_run_time dom.max_chrome_script_run_time

The "value" is in seconds.

I went to the URL just like you instructed in the following paragraph:

It would not take much googling around for y'all to determine this problem has existed for years. Just stop the damn popups and the problem goes away. I do not care whether some script on some web page starts much less finishes or loops forever.

If I did not need to use iMacros in Firefox I would never use Firefox. Similarly, I would never use Thunderbird for the same reason if there was an easy method to change email clients.

Per se, it has nothing to do with Firefox nor Thunderbird. It has to do with the holier than thou piss poor attitude of the volunteer leader community for the two products.

And, if you do not like damn or holier than thou or piss poor just tell me and I'll tell you what I really think. Grow up! Chrome, IE and Safari do not do these popups. And iMacros has their own method of providing error results and it is not popups. This is a well documented problem from over a half decade ago. Just fix the problem.

It's best to start a new thread and not use somebody else thread for a question you have. If need be you can link to this thread for reference.
