From previous experience I predict that I will reset Firefox again in the future and I want to keep my computer as slick and tidy as possible. Therefore can I unload this folder into The Great Beyond? TIA

If you do not need to recover data in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop then you can drag this folder to the Trash.

When you refresh/reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

This was most helpful b/c it seems to imply that I SHOULD delete the folder on my desktop without fear of the universe collapsing. IOW the fact that there was reason to reset FF in the first place or I would not have reset it is a given.

I think I can exhale now, so a big thank you!

Note that a reset includes recovering cookies, so a reset might not have worked for a case like this.
