Recently I've been having trouble with YouTube videos on my Mac where the full-screen (or even medium screen) will freeze the computer and then I have to restart it (which is strange because I've had it for 4 years and this is the first time it has happened). I figured I'd check out any updates on FF or Mac that I've missed in case that was part of the problem. I've just updated my Mac to El Capitan and then I went into my plugins for FF and was able to get Silverlight and Flash to reinstall, but for some reason Java (8 update 66 - the newest one) won't install. I can get it to download, but then I'll open it up and it will quit on its own. I've tried several times to install it, but each time it does the same thing. I was wondering if there was a way to get Java to download completely to satisfy FF's plug in needs?

Totally remove Java. Once it is gone, use this link.
