I'm getting an error/cannot play only some youtube videos
An error started occuring yesterday when Google/Youtube disabled Flash completely, everywhere. Even though I'm on old OS (XP) and FF version (39.0.3) I'm able to play 99% of videos even in high quality and at 60 fps (which is another problem I asked about in separate question). Thing is - there's that 1%, usually the newest videos, that I cannot play whith the error message saying that "Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available". Thing is - I can play 99% of videos in HTML5. I just don't get it...

Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.
Flash Player Version: Version 26.0.0.137
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only> +++++++++++++++++++ See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
I don't know if you noticed, Youtube stopped Flash Player support! They're not using it anymore. Your answer is completely irrelevant.
PS. I have the newest GPU drivers available for my setup (they're from 2014).
The newest GPU drivers for AMD and Nvidia have been released this week. No idea what your running but info to check. 2014 is to old and I am sure there is more support for your card/chip than that. If do not have access to your stuff ther are driver programs you can use ie check http://fileforum.betanews.com/ Realtek released new drivers today also if you use them.
Is there a reason you are not running ESR ver 52 ? Ver 39 is way off base, most XP systems I see are running 52 or mid 40's.
There is no way to guess what to do for you with that old of a browser. Archived Support questions/answers if you do a google search are available.
Try updating as has been suggested for your Video and by me for your browser.
Myself, you have work to do with your system that is available before you contact support again.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
This is a duplicate question as it is basically the same as question for YouTube you have going. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1169332 Us the above only and amend your question to include Google This is flagged for deletion.

Wow, this is progress if you get better than 360p on Windows XP without Flash.
If you right-click the media while it's playing and choose Stats for Nerds, what format/codec is the media you're playing? WebM VP8, WebM VP9, or ??
Post In 1 ONLY THIS IS A DUPLICATE TO YOUR GOOGLE QUESTION AMEND THE QUESTION. YOU HAVE US DANCING IN 2 PLaces for the same question.
@Pkshadow Newer drivers are for Windows 7 and above.
I'm not using newer Firefox versions because I had performance and stability issues with them. 39.0.3 is by far the fastest and the smoothest version I ever tried.
It's not the same question, I have two separate issues with youtube playback. Please do not duplicate your posts.
@jscher2000 It's not a progress, with Flash I was able to play buttery smooth 1080p videos at less than 20% CPU usage. HTML5 is a laggy resource hog.
Stats for nerds says: "video/webm; codecs="vp9""

2 QUESTIONS ARE THE SAME
Unfortunately last night Youtube forced crappy HTML5 on everyone (they disabled Flash, addons are not working) and now there's an issue. Even though I have old OS (WinXP), old Firefox 39.0.3 (never versions have performance and stability issues) I am able to play most youtube videos in 1080p. Thing is, those recorded on 60fps are playing in 60fps as well. And that's the problem - that's too much for my computer, even at 720p/60 CPU usage is between 88 and 97%. I have AMD GPU and AFAIK last drivers do not support 60fps either (there will be no newer ones). Is there any way to disable 60fps and play higher resolution videos in 30fps? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1169329

1. Videos not playing. 2. How to disable 60fps.
Two. Different. Things.
Since you mentioned it seems to be the newest videos:
Perhaps the issue is that the user uploaded the videos with H.264 encoding as the native format. Then Google runs a wide range of transcoding processes in the background to generate other resolutions and encodings, and for some reason it is not prioritizing the ones that play in Firefox on Windows XP. (Is anyone really surprised?)
If you check back and discover that you can play those videos in another 12-24 hours, then I'll consider that to be the most likely explanation. On the other hand, if the videos never play in Firefox, there must be some other issue, but I don't know if we'll be able to discover it from poking around the page.

Other sites that you may visit, still use Flash.
1. Why did you assume I'm using old version of Flash? 2. It still has nothing to do with my problem.

Your system details show : Shockwave Flash 19.0.r0 .....
2. It still has nothing to do with my problem.
Again : FredMcD said separate security issue
I updated the browser and I'm already regretting it. Not only it didn't help with my youtube issues, but it's also not compatible with the DivX Player plugin so I cannot watch many videos outside youtube anymore.
@penguino :
Stab in the dark, but as nothng else seems to work, you could give this a try :
I already have VLC but watching youtube videos in a standalone player is a pain in the "you know where".
Problem solved by force installing the Primetime plugin.
how did you force install the primetime plugin ?? does it causes the ff to crash and lose saved sessions.
I am also having the same issue with xp machine and agree with you ff39 version is most stable verison and no memory hog
Issue is when its running on html5 videos its causing cpu to use lot of memory and some videos are not playing at all.
My second problem is multiple tabs starts playing videos simultaneously and getting buffered on other tabs even if i have not clicked the video and to make it worse they are played on 60fps 360p and nobody from Firefox forum still has posted a workaround for that.

YouTube and many other sites auto-play when you open a page. Firefox 48 and later have a preference you can change to keep them paused until you activate that tab. The name is recent versions is:
media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground
originally, it was:
media.block-play-until-visible
Regarding 60fps, there is an add-on based method to tell the site your browser doesn't support 60fps so don't send that format. See: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1169329#answer-991745
