When I close Firefox it crashes. It does the same in safe mode. I go back to version 47 and it is fine, reinstalling version 56 it crashes again when exiting.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Two of the crash reports show a problem with an old version of Flash.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version 27.0.0.159

The bug is several weeks old. A lot of browsers have crashed but they are not sure why.

Use these links to create a new profile. Use this new profile as is. Is the problem still there?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.

Are you using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear offline website data or otherwise have cleared this data during the current session?

Try to create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

The profile was the issue. A new profile did not crash so I followed the instructions by cor-el under "To fix the problem in the original profile" in "http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues" actually I deleted everything they said before realizing I needed to restart between steps to see what the issue was. The issue went away, no more crash. I reloaded add ons I wanted as the steps I performed seemed to have removed all my addons. I loaded AdBlock and NoScript and still have no issues. I forget what other addons I had, but all but these were disabled anyway.

NOW MY OTHER ISSUE, this is what I first noticed before I realized I was crashing. When I updated from 47 the 56 I lost being able to see my cached video files. I view them with VideoCacheView.exe. When I noticed this I backed down to version 47 and it is fine, then back to 56 and it is not working. The programmer said he sees his video cached files fine in version 56.
