My sub folders have disappeared - how do I recover them

I went into my emails and noted my sub folders had disappeared. There has been no changes from my side so can anybody advise how to hopefully recover them.

check you have this setting: 'Menu icon' > 'Folders' > 'All'

If imap mail account: check to see if those folders have been subscribed to be seen. Right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe' to see the list.

Is this an imap or pop mail account?
