Firefox 57.0 to 57.x update crashes
Firefox update crashes whenever it runs, ie if the update automatically downloaded and starts upon the next firefox restart, it crashes. Firefox runs fine but when I go to help/about firefox, it starts downloading the update again, when I click 'restart to update firefox' it closes firefox then crash once more.
This has happened to older versions as well which has forced me to update manually.

I use firefox on Windows 7 64 bit sp1. I've recently deleted the profile because the RSS feeds didn't load anymore in the bookmark bar, so it should have created a fresh profile, although firefox synced the copy with all the bookmarks in-tact.
Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that works.
- Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox
- Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
