Thunderbird repeatedly fails to login to imap on videotron.ca
For the past couple of months Thunderbird on Linux has failed repeatedly to login to one of my two imap email accounts on Videotron.ca. I get the standard login to whatever has failed..enter a new password, cancel or retry. Nothing will work until I go to the videotron site, and change the password on this specific account. Then Thunderbird will login ...but the problem will re-appear again and again. Occasionally the login will work first time but that's the exception. I have spoken to technical support at videotron and they insist it's not their problem. Thunderbird will login faultlessly to gmail and to inbox both using imap. The setup for the two problem accounts has been checked repeatedly. Is it possible Tnunderbird is screwing up for just two accounts out of three at Videotron? Or am I being snowed by tech support?

What are your settings for the IMAP accounts? They seem to offer secure (port 993) and non-secure (port 143) services. Do all three have the same settings?

Yes all three have identical settings. They insist it's a Thunderbird problem, that there is nothing wrong with their system(s).
You've changed the password on the problem account several times. If you open Edit/Preferences/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, Show passwords, are there any obsolete entries? If so, Remove them, OK to close Preferences, restart TB, and enter the correct password when prompted, checking the box if you want it stored in Passwords.
There must be something different between the two videotron accounts that makes one of them non-working.
I changed it multiple times, but I always input the same password. I checked in saved passwords and there are no obsolete entries. This has got me beat, which is why I suspect the problem is not at my end but at their end which they will not acknowledge. One account gives me failed logons multiple times a day. But the setup is no different from other accounts with videotron which don 't fail. As I mentioned if I got to Videotrons site and change the password for the problematic account, inputting the same password, the account then logs-on without a problem. Thanks for trying.
