Hi, were you updated to a new version of Firefox from what you where using before ? As yahoo was before version 57 the default search engine and after it became Google. Is there a folder on the Desktop called OldFirefox Profile ?

Please give yourself a scan with : https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

Can you please describe in more detail as to what you mean as taken over.

Also on the New Tab there can be a Google Search bar.. please go to the Gear Icon and make any adjustments to your new tab page you like.
