usernames and passwords don't work after last upgrade
I tried to migrate my profile and data for my firefox on an iMAC to my new windows laptop. NONE of my passwords and user names have worked after the last few upgrades forced by Mozilla on my desktop. So i was able to update my support password on Mozilla, but when I was going to reset my password on my desktop to try to set up a sync to my laptop I got a message that I would lose all of my settings, bookmarks and preferences. That is a very bad way to do password upgrades. So, today, I really need to move all of my profiles, bookmarks etc to my laptop, but can't get sync to work at all, without the threat of loosing over 10 years of work. Some of your features are very draconian and difficult to manage. Add to that, the only support is by reading through years of comments, most of which do not work. So what is a user to do??????

If you do not know your Sync password, then if you choose to Reset it, then all data in the account is cleared. If you still have the data on your Mac, then you could -- at least in theory -- reset your password and Sync your Mac data to the account again before connecting your Windows laptop.
Could I suggest a backup first? See: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

Note that you also can transfer data files between your machines using either some removable storage (e.g., USB flash drive) or cloud storage. This can be very selective, for example, just a few files, or it can be in bulk. This article describes what a lot of the files in your profile folder contain: Recovering important data from an old profile.
