Updated from 67.0.4 to 68.0 and now my drop-down menus are double spaced exactly like shown in here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1164477. The chosen solution in that thread was how I fixed this previously but it no longer works after the update. A clean install didn't fix the issue neither did retrying the solution after the clean install. The same drop-down menu works fine on other browsers.

The previous workaround was to prevent Firefox from using its multiprocess feature. The multiprocess feature broke certain kinds of formatting for the options drop-down of a <select> control. However, multiprocess dates all the way back to Firefox 48, so most sites should have updated by now.

Are there particular sites where you notice this problem that might be persuaded to update their code? Or maybe there is a way to inject a style rule into the page to solve it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

It occurs on many sites from amazon, ebay, newegg, to 4chan so I'm not sure if it's their codes that is the issue.

This is what it looks like for me in Firefox 68. Is yours much different?
