Disable enlarged search field when opening new tab

The newest update has a feature which annoys me a lot, and that is that opening a new tab seems to enlarge the search field temporarily. I find it very irritating and causes me to waste a click in my workflow just to get rid of it. I'd very much like a way to disable this feature - it definitely diminishes my usability experience!

Hi, you seem to have posted from Firefox 68 which doesn't have that extremely annoying and completely pointless 'feature.'
