Unresponsive Scripts and Browser not responding issues

more options

I am having severe issues with unresponsive scripts and Firefox not responding. Once the scripts stop responding on one page, it spreads to the others I have open. I've cleared cache/cookies/data, I've gone into the configuration and changed the seconds to see if the script will complete, and I've tried the recommended extension (Javascript stop and go?), but then web pages won't load. I'm at a loss as to what else to do. Could this be a malware/virus issue?

The browser also stops responding, and once it gets started, it keeps doing so to the point I can't use the browser.

If you see a message about a phone number support, do not use it. It is FAKE !

”Webpage is slowing down your browser” This is the new way the browser tells you there is a problem with the script program(s). https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script?cache=no

MemTest LAST UPDATED : 27/09/2013 Could you please run a tool from http://memtest.org/ in order to check the integrity of your RAM?

You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.

Do you let Windows handle the page file or did you set a fixed size ?

If you use a fixed size for the page file then try the former and let Windows handle the page file.

Please no about the phone number! I called it...*facepalm*

Edit1: Company appears to have fixed my problem. Will see how it goes.

Please keep us posted. And if you can tell us what was done to fix the issue.

There was a Trojan on my computer. He did some commands through the DOS prompt to find it (he had remote access to laptop). He also pulled up where the laptop showed the errors (there were a lot of them). He had to get rid of that Trojan first of all, and a lot of clearing temp files.

Computer runs faster, and I've had one unresponsive script error so far. I did have to pay $$$.

I wish I could be more specific, but I wasn't the one doing the work. We will see how it goes through the rest of the week or so. This is a new laptop and I was peeved at having it almost slow to a crawl.

Hello hashbrowngirl23,

I apologize that you did not receive a warning sooner to NOT call the phone number. Unfortunately, since you've provided them with remote access, it is possible they have installed malware on your device. I would advise wiping the laptop and starting in a clean state as they may have access to sensitive information. You may also want to change your passwords for all your accounts.

That would wipe out everything. Try this first:

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article;
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently.
If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

What shall I do about payment?

Please contact your respective bank or credit card company depending on how paid. You may want them to issue a new card as well.

Checking in your laptop to a local repair shop may be an option as well.
