How can I rename devices assigned to the account? Or, how did the names of these devices come about; where do these names come from?

Firefox makes the device name based off of your computer's name from the operating system settings and the edition of Firefox that you are using.
If you go to the Sync section of the Firefox settings, there's the option to change your device name there. The changes to the device name may take a little longer than normal to appear on other devices.
