try to find and safe my thunderbird profile after windows 10 crashed with the help of ubuntu testversion usb stick.
After a windows 10 total system crash while "Thunderbird" was open I now try to safe with Ubuntu (usb stick test version) all personal data like my thunderbird profile before I have to reinstall windows 10 again. I didn't create any backup of my thunderbird profile. Is there any chance to get access to my profile to safe it with the testversion of Ubuntu on the same computer while Thunderbird seems to be open in the background and where then I can find it on the ubuntu desktop? Thanks for any help ! Madeleine from Berlin

The default location for the profile is:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\random8characters.profilename
See if you can locate that folder with the Ubuntu OS and save it to the USB stick. Once Windows and TB are reinstalled, empty the contents of the new profile folder and copy in the contents of the old profile folder.
Thanks, but I've searched already exactly for this location , because under windows I knew I can find the profile there, but now with ubuntu I cannot locate the folder with these informations. Searching under Ubuntu for Users, AppData, Roaming and Thunderbird....no result ... and I don't know why (all other privat documents I could find and safe)
I don't know if it makes a difference, but since AppData is hidden by default in Windows, you may have to enable viewing of hidden files and folders in the Ubuntu file manager.
