Can't install Firefox after stupidly doing a "reset" in Windows 10

The reset deleted all of my non-Microsoft apps, including Firefox, on my other desktop computer. When I try to download and install Firefox I get the "cannot create temp folder archive" message. I've tried deleting the temp folder, opening in safe mode, installing the "all" version of Firefox, but I keep getting the same message.

I intensely dislike Edge and really want Firefox back. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Dan

What I religiously do for all win os's is to change the "environment" of the temp folders because they are defaulted to the temp folder inside the windows system folders.

So try creating a C:\Temp

Search for "environment variables" and modify the current temps folders with the above folder.

While the above may not overcome your issue, at least youre helping your windows o.s. manage temp files a bit better.

But then retry your FF install and let us know.

I forgot to mention that Windows 10 does not appear to be operating in "S" mode, since that message doesn't appear when I look at Windows Specifications (see below).

"cannot create temp folder archive" means that the code to unpack the self-extracting ZIP archive isn't able to create the folder where to store the content of the archive.

It is possible that (anti-virus) security software is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

I tried starting in safe mode with network support and it still wouldn't allow any downloads.

My AVG anti-virus software was deleted when I did the "reset" (boy do I hate Microsoft!). Now I have Microsoft security software and have no idea how to turn it off.
