firefox uninstalled itself?
Apparently there was a new version of Firefox, so the old on on my pc decided to remove itself, bookmarks, log ins, passwords, everything gone!! My settings are/were not to update, but let me choose, but oh no, FF does and did as it pleased, again. Cannot do a backup from the file either, so here I am again@@!!! Why did Firefox unistall, why can't I get all my bookmarks etc., back and more importantly, why do I bother with Firefox lately. There have been many ongoing issues that aren't being sorted it seems going by the questions being asked in here, and none of them seem to be getting sorted. My last request for help go a reply, but the attitude was a tad arrogant, and kinda of blamed me for the problem I had at the time....but oh not, it wasn't my fault and now I'm going back to the Microsucks browser, which I really don't like but, oh well, at least I know it wont unistall itself, and lose all bookmarks, passwords, log ins etc.,

It sounds like the Firefox program files were still there, but your profile -- the folder that holds your accumulated data -- either was deleted or is not currently being used.
Did Firefox mention needing to do a tune-up (a Refresh or Reset)? The tell-tale sign is a new folder on your Windows desktop named Old Firefox Data containing recently updated files.
Did Firefox mention needing to create a new profile for one reason or another? If so, you could try resuming use of the old one if it hasn't been deleted. Here's how:
Checking for a Different Profile
First, if you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.
If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:
Profile Manager Page
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)
The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:
This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.
Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.
If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.
If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.
Any progress so far?
Hmm...thanks for the reply, and as I do not "tinker" with any setting, I leave that up to the programmes etc., I did however follow what you say about profiles and find there are 7 different profiles...?? None of them say this one is in use etc., ? As for FF leaving anything on the desktop. old firefox etc., nope, there is nothing, was nothing at all, nor was I asked to refresh FF at anytime. Still not able to get anything back, am still using the MS Edge browser and will stay there. Thanks for the advice, but none of it helpful.

Did you try clicking the "Launch profile in new browser" button for any of them to see what was there? Unless someone else shares your computer, most likely they are historical profiles from various points in time (after the new window opens, you could check the history to see when they were last used, Ctrl+Shift+H).
Even if you are done with Firefox, it might be useful to export some data for use in Edge if any of the profiles are relatively up-to-date. For example: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks.
Tried Launch profile in new browser, nothing but stuff I don't understand in them, so no idea anymore. No-one else uses pc, and also can't see the history etc., so will be unistalling FF and removing all files that go with it. Had nothing but issues with this browser for too long now, and as much as I liked it, sorry, it's time to go. Will also be deleting mozilla account (if that's possible) Cheers and thanks again for the advice and suggestions..but none helped at all, and each time I open the FF browser, there is something else going on...two browser open for same page etc., and have checked all settings, and they are as I wanted... MS Edge has all my bookmarks as I did each browser individually for sites...a long time ago, and continued to do so. Cheers and thanks again.
