Browser History missing so many websites I visited and had in my recent tabs

I used to be able to see my entire history with all website that I ever visited and now suddenly in the new year the majority of them are missing in my History. On Tuesday I closed a window with all my tabs that are usually open and closed another windows afterwords with 3 tabs. Today only that window could be restored but not the main one with my absolutely most important 30 tabs. Now usually I would find the 2 previously closed windows, but now I did not manage the reopen it and it's gone. And neither can I find the websites in my previous history. There are only a handful in each folder of the past 6 months. What has happened??? Freaking out here.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar, especially if you have multiple windows open to prevent losing tabs in unnoticed windows.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit
