Do you recall the specific type of message? For example, a red screen indicates an address that has been reported to the Google SafeBrowsing project as being a phishing or malware site. On the other hand, a secure connection error indicates that the server didn't prove itself to be the one listed in the address bar -- i.e., it may be an impostor.
