My Thunderbird updated to Version 128.6.1esr. Now my Lightning calendar will not display. Toolbar View Calendar is grayed out. Lightning does not display in the list of add ons or extensions.

Attempting this does not result in a context menu value of Reset:

This may happen if the update of the add-on is stuck. Don't worry about your calendar data, it is left untouched and will be available again if you follow these steps to restore Lightning:

Go to the Advanced section of Thunderbird Settings and click on Config Editor...
Copy or start typing extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} into the search box
When extensions.installedDistroAddon... is listed in the preferences list, right-click on it and choose Reset from the context menu - the preference now isn't bold anymore and its value is empty.

I've read where Lighting is now not a addon or extension, but comes with Thunderbird itself. that would explain why the above Reset didn't happen.

After clicking on Events and Tasks then Calendar, my calendar appeared.

How embarrassing. Now off for a Beer and Cigar.

It looks like your Lightning calendar didn’t update properly after upgrading to Thunderbird 128.6.1esr. Since the View Calendar option is grayed out and Lightning isn’t showing in your add-ons, here are a few things you can try:

1. Reinstall the Lightning Calendar Add-on Open Thunderbird and go to Menu > Add-ons and Themes Search for Lightning Calendar and install it Restart Thunderbird and see if the calendar appears 2. Reset Thunderbird’s Config Settings Go to Settings > General > Config Editor Search for: extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} If you find it, right-click and Reset Restart Thunderbird and check if the calendar is back 3. Try Safe Mode Start Thunderbird in Safe Mode (Hold Shift while opening Thunderbird) If the calendar works in Safe Mode, another add-on might be causing the issue 4. Check Your Profile Data Your calendar data should still be intact in Thunderbird’s profile folder:

Go to: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\YourProfile Look for a folder named calendar-data If none of these steps work, you might need to roll back to an earlier Thunderbird version until an update fixes the issue. Hope this helps—let me know how it goes! 👍
