RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension has been reported to cause screens blanking out after loading. Read the following carefully.

If you have RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension, disable/remove the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension in the RealPlayer Preferences (RP: Tools > Preferences > Download & Recording) . Restart Firefox and test.

See Noah_SUMO's illustrated answer in this thread if the above is not clear: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/557689#threadId558168

The RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension adds some extra features like saving media files.

Be sure not to get confused with the RealPlayer plugin (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) that plays media files.

I did all the above with RealPlayer and Adobe Reader plug ins. Re-started Firefox same problem.

You may need to use Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes before starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.

See: Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems

If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

Anyone with an answer. I cannot load several pages now including www.linkedin.com. I diabled most of the add on. Will have to quit using Firefox as I have no time for anymore. It's disgusting but these browser companies are causing troubles to each other.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.

My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".

Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

Michael Please respect basic forum etiquette. Do not hi-jack threads and do not post off-topic questions or comments in a thread. The topic of this thread is:

After updating to 3.6.6. some pages won't load. They load for 1-2 sec and then disappear and shows a blank page while the browser looks like it's trying to load.

To WatchUrOwnBack

When I was using Firefox 3.6.6, I had some pages that would stop loading, in a similar manner as described in the problem above. I still believe that my reply was relevant to their situation. They can try my solution or not, it's up to them.

Michael Re-read your first post. No mention of "pages not loading" or "load for 1-2 sec and then disappear and shows a blank page".

Your entire first post was about plugin-container, CPU usage, and Adobe Flash. There are plenty of other threads on this forum about those issues that would have been more appropriate rather than making that post in this thread. It is very easy to now say that you were experiencing the issues expressed by the original and subsequent posters in this thread, after-the-fact. Try to keep the threads "clean" so that others seeking assistance can easily find answers/suggestions without the need to read off-topic posts in a thread, by someone venting about another issue.

Your first post in this thread was definitely NOT on-topic.

Same exact problem, but in my case FF won't load ANY pages except for localhost. Thanks Michael for suggestion, will try to switch to 3.5.10. Can't believe FF team can push an update like this w/o proper testing :( Very unfortunate...
