Ok, I have solved this question, I saved the appropriate file to disc and will transfer to new laptop.
It would be easier to use Firefox Sync, IMO.
Use the File Import , Export commands in the browsers, firefox, IE8, Safari, to go browser to browser. In Firefox this is an option in "organize bookmarks" under the bookmarks tab. To go from box to box, Export to the desktop of box one then e-mail that file to yourself on box two & Import to the intended browser
