Why would FF 3.6.13 keep asking me if I want to close all browsers or tabs when there is only the one running?
It throws up the same box if your trying to close a browser with multiple tabs open, but in this case there is just the 1 browser open, no tabs.

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

It seems it was a freeze.com net assistant extension, what ever that is? Afetr disabling it, it seems to be working fine in normal mode.
