Until recently, my "history" was always shown as the "default" screen on the left-hand side of the screen. Now when I open Firefox, I'm stuck with a very annoying menu to get back to my history--what gives??? when I opened up Firefox. Now when I open F

My website "history" use to be shown on the left-hand side of the screen when I opened Firefox. Now I have to go through a Firefox menu every time I open the web site instead ; very annoying! Jim S

Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

  • View > Sidebar > History

You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks and the history in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar.
Firefox 4 has two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu.
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
