I cannot delete a bookmark in FF v8. Can this be done?

I am trying to delete a bookmark in FF v8 on ubuntu 11.10 but nothing seems to work. I've tried the suggestion on older versions of putting the bookmark in the location bar and clicking the star & using the delete option there, but all that does is remove the address from the bar. The bookmark is still in the bookmarks menu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. vince.p

Thanks so much for your helpful reply. I used the links you suggested and followed the instruction then used the "options" drop down in bookmarks to delete the bookmark I'd been struggling with. I didn't know that this function existed, so I've learnt something new.
