How to put speed dial button on toolbar?

I can't add anything to Speed Dial. There is no "set as speed dial button' in the Customize Toolbar window, nor is there anything about adding anything to Speed Dial in the Bookmarks menu, which is something else I read that you can supposedly do.

You used to be able to right-click on an empty box in Speed Dial and it would open up and you could copy and paste a URL in there, but you can't do that anymore either.

My computer was completely wiped clean after getting some sort of virus or malware from Youtube and I have to start all over again, and this is one of the first things I want to do.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop, 64 bit, Windows 7, and the most recent version of Firefox

Speed Dial is an extension. I suggest reading the above article first to decide if the built-in feature doesn't suit your needs.
