Bookmarks and History Windows Stuck in (always open, cannot exit) Full Screen on mac os 10.8
After I exit full screen in Firefox on mac os 10.8, the Bookmarks/History window continues to always open in full screen, and the mac os Menu Bar no longer shows up on the top - in fact, the dock doesn't show up, the hot-corners don't work. I can close the window with the keyboard shortcut, but the F11 'exit full screen' shortcut does NOT work. Nothing I can think of works except just closing the window. Next time it opens in this "stuck" full screen mode again.
Any ideas? Any help? Thank you!

"F11" toggles in and out of Full screen mode.

Thanks, but as I said above - F11 does not work when I am looking at the bookmarks window. Only Cmd-W works to close it. But I would like to be able to access the menu bar and other functions when I have the Bookmarks window open.
P.S. Just do add the "downloads" window to the symptoms: it is permanently stuck in full screen mode as well. I tried restarting in "safe mode" but that didn't fix it. I suspect it may be a bug...
On Mac you need to use another shortcut key to toggle full screen mode: command+Shift+F
You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
You can also try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
Like fn11, cmd-shift-F doesn't work.
Deleting localstore.rdf unlocks the bookmarks window and returns it to normal, but then the same behavior is reproduced when I go to full screen, and the same problem appears with the new localstore.rdf.
Deleting the org.mozilla.firefox.plist didn't even unlock the bookmarks window from its full-screen stuck position.

I guess I will just stick to using cmd-W to close the window.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
