i don't get a full page when i click on the firefox icon...i have to expand it everytime. how do i deactivate this feature so that when i hit the icon i have a full screen page?

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

You can try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)
