When will Firefox ESR update to version 24?
My firefox ESR 17 instance isn't auto-updating even though version 24 is out. Should it be?

hello szalapski, for the ESR channel there is an overlapping period of two release cycles (2x6weeks) for version 17 and version 24 - there will be another 17.0.10esr release coming up in a few weeks, coinciding with a 24.0.1esr (or 24.1 in the new naming scheme) and in the cycle after that ESR users on the 17-branch will be auto-updated to firefox 24.2esr. the final transition will be in mid-december...

well, something went different... I still have 17.0.11 today, and there is already 24.1.1 out... anyway it should upgrade next month, hopefully...
17.0.11 was an unplanned extra release (17.0.10 was meant to be the last version) to address a newly discovered security vulnerability.
17.0.11esr came out when Firefox 25.0.1 release did. Firefox 17.0.12esr may come out with 24.2.0esr and 26.0 release does. If not then the update to 24esr for 17.0 esr users may happen as of 24.2.0esr/26.0 release.

The upcoming ESR17 version is our last! Long live ESR24. Users will be updated automatically at the end of the cycle
So there will only be a security update of the 17.0.x branch in case a severe security vulnerability is discovered.
