new tabs keep popping up above the task bar how do I stop that

When I go into a site I can get in, but I click on something and the new tab shows up going very fast above the task bar top task bar and I never get to see the information. When I close out it says that I have like 485 tabs to go do I still want to close and I say yes. How do I get rid of this from happening?
