settings
Hello,
We are planning to push out Firefox to all our users. We would like to lock down some settings for the following:
- Homepage - Proxy Autoconfig URL - Disable all updates (we use virtual machines and update each month) - Disable "Default Browser" prompt on first launch - Disable update prompt notification for new browser version - Disable "Import Wizard" notification
Since we plan on using the latest version (27.0.1), I've read through several articles and have tried the following:
- Importing the .admx file and pushing out a script for Firefox. Firefox fails to load when the policy takes effect: "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator".
- Tried using the CCK Wizard add-on tool for Firefox. This seems to work, but several preference names seem to be outdated on many of the sites I've checked out and I can't seem to find the preference name that corresponds to the default browser prompt, update prompt for new version and import wizard prompt. Also, the homepage preference only works with CCK if you hit the Home button, but it still defaults to the Firefox/Google default when launching.
So far, the best option seems to be using the CCK tool, but how do you push this out to several hundred users that may not have launched Firefox to create that folder where the custom xpi is loaded in AppData\Roaming\Mozilla?
Any help or an alternate method would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
